About Los Pirules

San Miguel, nestled in the Colonial heart of Mexico, was established in the mid-1500's by a Franciscan priest.

Proud of its past as a center for the defiant revolutionaries who fought for independence from Spain in 1810, the town takes its name from that rebellion's most illustrious leader, Ignacio Allende.

 The Mexican government has declared the entire town a national historic site, ensuring that the cobblestoned streets and colonial architecture are preserved.

Today, San Miguel is an important cultural community with arts and craft centers, language schools and year round workshops offering classes in dance, painting, drama, history, writing, weaving and cooking, to name just a few.

There are also regular plays, concerts, exhibitions and cultural sightseeing tours to neighbouring colonial towns and villages.
